Feast On Clare Valley's Festival of the Lamb 18-22 September 2024

Is there anything more Australian than juicy lamb? So get yourself over to Clare Valley where they'll celebrate this iconic dish at a number of wineries as part of the annual Festival of the Lamb, 18-22 September 2024.

It's not just food and wine being celebrated, but also Art of the Lamb. In a collaboration with the Clare Valley Festival of the Lamb, Arts Collective Clare Valley at 8 Mill Street, Clare, will present an exhibition of sheep in art. They will also host a travelling exhibition by The Australian Tapestry Group.

You can celebrate daily throughout the Festival of the Lamb at Magpie and Stump where you can enjoy traditional pub classic foods, or a different dish every day prepared with Dunira Prime Lamb and Pangkarra Pasta, sipped along with local Clare Valley wine or a couple of the handcrafted Stump Brewing beers. Throughout the five-day festival, you can book canape tasting plates or lunch at Paulett Wines' Bush DeVine Restaurant at 752 Jolly Way, Polish Hill River 5453. Head Chef Erky showcases a variety of mouthwatering lamb dishes on the menu throughout the festival, using the whole lamb to create culinary delights. These dishes featuring lamb from Armagh's Remarkable Meat Co, will be matched expertly with Paulett Wines. Canape tastings cost $49 while you can choose from shared plates $60 per person, with matched wines $90 or 5 courses for $90 per person, with matched wines $125. Book your tickets here.

It starts with Festival of the Lamb Launch and Dinner at the Mintaro Institute, Burra Street, Mintaro SA 5415. Enjoy Italian food from chef Vincenzo Spatola from Fogolar Furlan, the oldest Italian regional club in Adelaide, preparing two courses using Martindale Lamb and Clare Valley Pangkarra Pasta, and hand-crafted, estate-grown wines from Reillys Wines.

Speakers include Chef Rosa Matto talking about the Slow Food movement which had its beginnings in Italy, Reillys Wines owner and winemaker Justin Ardill discussing the move into Italian varieties in the Clare Valley, and keynote speaker Katherine (Kaito) Maitland of Pangkarra Pasta speaking about their premium products. Love a sing-along? Then get along to the Festival of the Lamb Poetry Ballad Sing-along and Dinner at the Mintaro InstituteBring along a plate of food and a poem to share with others. Enjoy the Mintaro and Muleteer lamb sausages which are produced especially for the Clare Valley Festival of the Lamb, plus a glass or two of Mintaro Wines. Hear from local performer Richard Mintern along with a performance by members of the Adelaide Plains Male Voice Choir plus Peter Houldsworth from Mintaro Wines will recite some Australian classics. Book Lamb & Lavish: An Italian Long Table Feast With Wendouree at Ragu & Co Italian Restaurant, featuring a luxurious long table Italian dinner for a small, intimate group of 24 guests, ensuring a cozy and communal dining atmosphere. The Clare Valley Festival of the Lamb at the UPPside will feature local lamb from Wunderbar Lamb Clare Valley while chef Christian Uppill will curate a European menu focused around the local lamb. The European-style restaurant is the only one in the Clare Valley stocking exclusively Clare Valley wines, beers, gin and vodka. The UPPside grows most of their own fresh produce on-site, only use ethical local suppliers, and enviro-friendly practices such as composting and recycling. At the Spring Equinox Penobscot Farm Tour and Degustation Lunch you'll discover history, climate, permaculture design, organic and bio-dynamic farming as well as Ngadjuri land management at Penobscot Farm, hear from Watervale lamb grower Cameron Bond onhow similar agricultural practices help grow nutrient rich lamb and then transfer to the Watervale Hotel where 2022 SA Chef of the Year Nicola Palmer will present a five-course degustation lunch featuring lamb, and matched to Italian wines grown in the Clare Valley. This is a special dining experience held in the atmospheric shearing shed with slow-cooked lamb prepared over fire, accompanied by an array of Italian-inspired sides and delicacies, all perfectly paired with Knappstein's award-winning wines.
