Is there anything more Australian than juicy lamb? So get yourself over to Clare Valley where they'll celebrate this iconic dish at a number of wineries as part of the annual Festival of the Lamb, 20-24 September 2023.
It starts with Festival of the Lamb Launch and Dinner from 6.00-9.00pm, Wednesday 20 September 2023 at the Mintaro Institute, Burra Street, Mintaro SA 5415. Enjoy local lamb from Martindale Farm and hand-crafted, estate-grown wines from Reillys Wines.
Speakers include Jane Kellock Chair of the South Australian Sheep and Beef Blueprints and Brendan Kluska and Pat Dawson from the Polish Society to provide information on the Polish migrant's influence on the Clare Valley. Tickets cost $45. Book your tickets here.
Throughout the five-day festival, you can book canape tasting plates or lunch at Paulett Wines' Bush DeVine Restaurant at 752 Jolly Way, Polish Hill River 5453. Head Chef Erky showcases a variety of mouthwatering lamb dishes on the menu throughout the festival, using the whole lamb to create culinary delights. These dishes featuring lamb from Armagh's Remarkable Meat Co, will be matched expertly with Paulett Wines. From 7.00-11.00pm, Friday 22 September 2023 is the Knappstein Wines and Nyowee Poll Merino Stud Festival of the Lamb Dinner at 2 Pioneer Ave,
Clare SA 5453. This is a four-course dining experience held in their heritage-listed Enterprise Cellar with a menu specially curated by world-renowned Chef Stuart Oldfield. It will showcase Nyowee lamb matched with a selection of Knappstein's award-winning wines. Tickets cost $150. Book your tickets here.
From 12.00-3.00pm, Saturday 23rd and Sunday 24 September 2023, is Reillys Lamb Long Lunch at Reillys Wines Cellar Door & Restaurant, corner Hill St & Leasingham Rd, Mintaro SA 5415. Reillys Restaurant will showcase the finest Mintaro lamb alongside their handcrafted, estate grown wines. An exquisite five-course gourmet menu curated by head Chef Luke Smith will be paired by winemaker Justin Ardill's favourite wines to perfectly match each course, beginning with their renowned Watervale Riesling and moving on to the full-bodied red wine varietals.
